LIVES:
The Cotswolds

FAMILY:
Joe is the great, great, great grandson of the illustrious Charles Darwin, this is perhaps where his artistic interests including exploring the shapes and textures of the natural world come from.

EDUCATION:
Although not formally trained, Joe comes from a long family of tradition of artists; his great grandmother was the wood engraver Gwen Raverat, his grandmother Sophie Gurney and mother, Emily Pryor, were both well-respected painters, and his two maternal aunts, Lucy Rawlinson and Nelly Trevelyan are also widely exhibited artists

CAREER:
When not working in his Cotswold studio, Joe is also a well-known ‘TV vet’ who found fame on the BBC series ‘Vets in Practice’ in the 1990’s, and is now the resident vet on ITV This Morning.

MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
Using a range of tools, Joe works the sheet metal into complex three dimensional shapes, before using heat and water to add texture, colour and depth to the material.

SUBJECTS OF WORK:
Figurative and abstract - Joe has a fascination with sculpting the human form
