Guy Routledge

EDUCATION:
Guy studied glass and ceramics at Sunderland University.
CAREER:
Guy Routledge has worked in Ceramics for the last 20 years. His first studio was in Auckland, New Zealand from 1989 to 1991. Routledge then worked for a year as a site artist and designer on the New Zealand pavilion in Seville, Spain during Expo 92. On returning to England in 1993, Routledge developed his studio ceramics, supplying many galleries throughout the UK and overseas.
His work consists of various brightly coloured vessels, bottles and a wide range of sculptural figurative ceramics, based loosely around the ‘head’ and ‘face’. These pieces are predominantly monochrome.
All of Guys work is handbuilt, giving each piece a unique character and presence.
He now has large workshops and a shop (Carrington Pottery) in Nottingham, where he makes all his own work as well as teaching up to 50 people a week in various group classes.
