LIVES:
Lives and works in North Devon

EDUCATION:
Douglas Burton attained a first class honours degree from Winchester School of Art, followed by Postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Arts. Art Foundation, Falmouth School of Art, Cornwall.

AWARDS:
Awards include: 2000 Robin Hellar Moss Bursary, 2001 Vincent Harris Award, 2002 Patricia Turner Award and Henry Moore Bursary

MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
Slate, Onyx, Resin, Glass-fibre, Bees wax, Parrafin, Abstract and Modern.

SUBJECTS OF WORK:
His sculptures take the form of the architectonic language that surrounds us, and use scale to manipulate the viewers’ relationship to the work – the exploration of sequestered quarters is evident, with a concern for the front/back, inside/outside, both physically and metaphorically.

EXHIBITIONS:
He has worked as technical assistant with Sir Anthony Caro, and has exhibited widely in both group and solo shows.
