CAREER:
A professional wildlife artist
MEDIUMS USED IN WORK:
David works primarily in clay, but many pieces are mixed media. In 2011 he began bronze casting, and now has a range of limited edition bronze pieces.
SUBJECTS OF WORK:
David has tackled many animal subjects - such as crabs, dinosaurs and gorillas, but has tended to specialize in reptiles and birds.
EXHIBITIONS:
He has exhibited at some of the major UK ceramic and wildlife art shows, such as Art In Clay at Hatfield House, Potfest In Park, Penrith and also at the annual Society of Wildlife Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
David has worked on a number of commissions for centers open to the public, such as a giant mole and beetles for 'Creatures of the Underworld' at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. In 2009 he created Belemnites and a dinosaur skull for the Great North Museum, Newcastle.
AND ANOTHER THING…:
As well as making animals David also writes songs about them, and is currently touring schools and science festivals with Amoeba to Zebra, a natural history musical telling the story of evolution using the medium of pop music, and utilizing some bizarre and impressive props that he has created for the show.
