This striking life-size bronze dramatically captures the species’ character of pathos and vulnerability.
Cooke has depicted a species that is literally hanging on.
The empty space surrounding the piece, with only a single branch, emphasises the melancholic subject of extinction.
Cooke's Inspiration draws from the natural world and the emotions evoked by animal and human behaviours. ‘Orangutan’ won runner-up in the 2017 Wildlife Artist Of The Year competition.
