Ambrogio Pozzi
BORN:
1931 in Varese, Italy. Died 2012.
EARLY LIFE:
His father was the founder of Ceramica Pozzi, and Ambrogio. When the family firm closed in 1980, Pozzi began designing for other firms such as Rosenthal, Fratelli Guzzini, Alitalia, and la Rinascente. And soon became well known for the geometrical and zoomorphic forms in his work
In 1950 Pozzi started to design for his paternal factory, Ceramica Franco Pozzi in Gallarate, working with ceramic, glass, plastic and wood projects. His work was soon shipped out to Denmark, Sweden, England, France and Germany
EDUCATION:
Whilst at University he also attended Istituto per la Ceramica in Faenza, returning after graduating to improve his glazing and stoneware techniques.
CAREER:
Ambrogio worked in different fields of production for the leading firms, diversifying mass-production design from image projects, concentrating on the importance of functionality as well as beauty. . He is a member of international Juries in Faenza, Hannover, Valencia, Lisbon, Politecnic/Milan.
EXHIBITIONS:
His projects are exposed in many galleries and museums all over the world, like MOMA of New York. He is coordinator for the Design Section at the Gallery of Modern Art in Gallarate
